FROG is an innovative open source collaborative learning platform, which enables teachers to author, run and share complex collaborative scripts. It is extensible, including H5P widgets, and simulations from Berkeley.
Format: Presentation
Description:
Teachers in classrooms who want to introduce innovative and interactive teaching methods rely on openly available resources like widgets (for example H5P), simulations (from for example the WISE project, or Concord Consortium), patterns (such as jigsaw), etc. However, being able to put all these together into a lesson, and effectively manage learning scenarios is very challenging.
FROG is a new open platform for collaborative learning, which lets users design learning scenarios with rich synchronous tools, flexible grouping, and integration. It can be used to share pedagogy at 2 levels: creating templates (such as think-pair-share or jigsaw) which can be downloaded and “filled out” by other teachers, or sharing fully designed graphs (discussion about the ecosystem of Lake Luzern, with integrated videos, simulations, question prompts etc). This presentation will include the experience of using FROG in a Swiss middle-school.

Working method:
We will present FROG with examples from a Swiss middle-school, where it has been used for the last half year – specific learning scenarios that have been used at this school, and the experience with sharing open resources through FROG between teachers.
Keywords:
Collaborative learning, synchronous activities, open source, learning analytics, grouping
In-depth workshop: Practical introduction to FROG: a tool to design and run collaborative
